BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Following its summer announcement, members of the United Kingdom's Royal family are coming to Boston this week for the 2022 Earthshot Prize on Friday to award the next five winners— the lineup for which has been released. Prince William and Princess Kate of Wales are heading to the Commonwealth's capital city on Wednesday to get started on their busy schedule while in town.

The lineup of presenters and speakers at the event was released on Monday, among them will be celebrities like Rami Malek, Shailene Woodley, and Billie Eilish.

First, the Prince and Princess of Wales will visit the John F. Kennedy Library with Ambassador Caroline Kennedy, and meet with Boston Mayor Michelle Wu to discuss the city's efforts to fight climate change. Prince William founded the Earthshot Prize in 2020 to honor groundbreaking solutions to environmental conservation. The prize drew inspiration from JFK's 1961 Challenge, and comes on the heels of President Biden's Cancer Moonshot, which aims to reduce the death rate to cancer.

This week's visit will be their first trip to Boston since 2014— as well as the first since the passing of Queen Elizabeth II in September.

According to Earthshot's website, there are five categories that organizations can be nominated for: "Protect and Restore Nature," "Clean Our Air," "Revive Our Oceans," "Build A Waste-Free World," and "Fix Our Climate."
