QUINCY, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Despite some delays, the Quincy Ice Skating Rink is opening for the season on Tuesday, Dec. 2 or Wednesday, Dec. 3.
This is the third year outdoor rink has been operating, and Quincy Director of Recreation Christopher Rooney said that he couldn't be happier to give locals a joyful winter experience.
“It’s something new, it’s something exciting, and it’s something not a lot of South Shore towns offer to their people,” Rooney said.
The rink was supposed to open on Monday, Dec. 1, but rainy weather on Sunday pushed it back. Rooney said the plan is to open on Tuesday, but with the potential stormy weather, it's looking more like Wednesday will be the day.
“We figured we’d hold off to make sure it was 100%,” he said. “Otherwise, Wednesday we’ll be good to go.”

“Everyone has a smile on their face, everyone’s laughing, you’ll have people surround the boards just watching their kids, watching their family, it’s a great family event.”
The rink will be open seven days a week from noon to 8 p.m.
