BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Several hundred demonstrators gathered on Boston Common Saturday to protest the fatal shooting of Minnesota resident Renee Nicole Good by ICE, the U.S. military intervention in Venezuela, and the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.
Protestors carried signs that read, "Ice Out" and "Justice for Renee Good," in memory of the woman fatally shot by ICE agent Jonathan Ross.
"Their brutalization by ICE, their murder of our sister Renee Nicole Good. All of us are here to say justice for our sister, justice for all of our immigrant brothers and sisters, everyone who has faced ICE terror," one protestor said.

Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem said Ross was acting in self defense when he shot Renee Good. Noem maintains that Good was trying to run Ross with her car in an act of domestic terrorism.
In videos captured by several bystanders, Good is seen putting her car in reverse and turning away before Ross shot her. Good's killing has caused an outcry across the country as many question why the agents were targeting Good and the Department of Justice's policies regarding deadly force. According to the DOJ, "firearms should not be used simply to disable a moving vehicle" and limits deadly force to certain circumstances. Federal policy also states that "moving out the path of a moving vehicle," is a reasonable alternative to deadly force.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement employees are billed as officials who "protect America from the cross-border crime and illegal immigration that threaten national security and public safety," and "assist with the apprehension of individuals that are accused of violating immigration laws." Good, an American citizen born in Colorado, was sitting in her car at the time she was repeatedly shot, observing ICE agents in the area after she had dropped her son off at school. In the U.S., Americans have the right to observe and record law enforcement under the First Amendment.

"We call on our federal delegation to oppose any additional funding for ICE and border patrol in the DHS appropriations bill being negotiated as we speak. We demand that Congress stop ceding its authority and exert its war powers to stand against Trump's authoritarianism. Are we done fighting? No, hell no. And that is what Donald Trump and the rest of his billionaires, the rest of his goons, can't understand. That we are here until we see justice," another protestor proclaimed.
Good's death has also put a larger spotlight on other fatal incidents involving ICE, including the death of Keith Peterson in Los Angeles on Dec. 31, 2025, who was shot and killed by an off-duty ICE officer.
