BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The long-awaited SatanCon 2023 convention is coming to Boston this weekend, a group of Christian worshippers are trying their best to pray it away. The convention is hosted by The Satanic Temple, a religious group based in Salem that doesn't actually believe in Satan.

In response, local representatives for the Christian worship group Intercessors for America told the Christian Post they will be in Boston to counter the event and "pray for a harvest of lost souls."

The convention highlights include programs from speakers on "Satanism in Rural America," and a grand "Satanic Ball" on Friday. The Satanic Temple generally involves itself with civil liberties fights as an infringement of its religion, including pushing for abortion access and advocating for the separation of church and state.

The convention at the Boston Marriott Copley Place is "dedicated" to Boston Mayor Michelle Wu, who didn't allow the group to do a prayer dedication at Boston City Council meetings, which resulted in an ongoing lawsuit.
