NORTH BROOKFIELD, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Several firefighters sustained minor injuries after flames engulfed a home in North Brookfield overnight.

Residents of the home on Old East Brookfield Road were able to escape without injury, but six firefighters were taken for area hospitals for what Deputy Fire Chief Aaron Anderson called "typical symptoms."

Anderson told WBZ NewsRadio's Chris Fama that includes "shortness of breath and chest pains."

The injured firefighters were treated and released Monday morning.

The roadway was shut down overnight and power cut off in the area temporarily.

The three alarm fire brought in first responders from several communities.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
