Snow, Rain Across Much Of Mass. For Spring Storm


BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — An unusual mid-spring snowstorm moved into the region early Friday morning, with snow coming down mostly west of I-495.

Most of the snow was expected to fall in the western portion of the state. The National Weather Service predicted Fitchburg and the surrounding areas to receive up to five inches.

As of Friday morning, the highest reported snow total for the state was Hubbardston with 4.5 inches, and other places in Worcester County also collected similar amounts, with North Ashburnham at 3.1 inches and Holden at 2.8.

Snow was expected to fall through the morning.

Rain started turning into snow in the Boston area Friday morning. It has created wet and slushy conditions in the area.
