STURBRIDGE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A pregnant woman is dead and another person hospitalized after the woman crashed a car into the Sturbridge Plaza Hotel and opened fire.

State and local Police said at around 1 a.m., they responded to the hotel on Haynes Street. Police said the 28-year-old woman was behind the wheel when the SUV crashed into the hotel and she went inside with a gun, looking for two people. The two people who the woman was looking for were uninjured in the incident.

Sturbridge Police Chief Earl Dessert said when police entered the building, looking for the woman, she took her own life. They later learned she was about eight months pregnant. Her name is not being released, as police are calling it a domestic violence situation.

Dessert said a person in the hotel's lobby was shot and was not the intended target. They remain hospitalized in critical but stable condition.

Police said there is no threat to the public.
