SWAMPSCOTT, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — In honor of the 250th anniversary of the United States, Swampscott designed their annual calendar to highlight the town’s involvement in the Revolutionary War.

President of the Swampscott Historical Society Molly Connor said that this particular calendar took two years to create, as they wanted to do thorough research on Swampscott’s involvement in the war.

"The committee felt it was really necessary to document Swampscott’s role in different ways, and because it’s the 250th anniversary celebration, we thought it was very important to show the contributions Swampscott made," Connor said.

She explained that they used numerous sources to gather research for the contents of the calendar, such as maps, history of the Burrill family, and Lynn in the Revolution, a two-volume set detailing how the city was involved in the Revolution (Swampscott was part of Lynn at that time).

Connor hopes that this calendar will allow Swampscott residents of all ages to appreciate their town’s contribution to the founding of the United States.
