BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Sail Boston 250 is fast approaching, and the City has laid out what exactly is going on.
Sail Boston will stretch from July 10 to July 16, with the Parade of Sail being the centerpiece on Saturday, July 11 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Mayor Wu said that this parade will feature, “dozens of the most stunning, beautiful vessels from around the world.”
There will be numerous security checkpoints in East Boston and on Castle Island.
“Much of the area along Seaport Boulevard will be a secure area closed to vehicular traffic and parking,” State Police Colonel Jeffrey Noble said. “There will be nine security checkpoints throughout the Seaport. People are encouraged to use the MBTA and get off at JFK UMass.”
Commander of the Coast Guard's Boston Sector Captain Jamie Frederick gave a rundown about how spectators can watch the parade.
“All spectator vessels must remain within designated spectator areas starting at 8 a.m. and stay in those areas until the last tall ship successfully moors. This is critical to ensure the safe flow of more than 60 participating ships,” he said
The colonel also went through the items that would be prohibited at the event.
“Backpacks or large bags, coolers on wheels, fireworks, weapons or sharp objects, pop up tents or canopies, glass containers or any alcohol,” he said.
