BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — With the summer inching closer and closer, the Emerald Necklace Conservancy has challenged Boston residents to "Journey the Necklace" and visit all six of its parks.

Between now and Sept. 30, the conservancy is asking folks to travel the routes of the parks that make up the Emerald Necklace, which include Franklin Park, Arnold Arboretum, Jamaica Pond, Olmsted Park, Riverway, and Back Bay Fens.

They encourage participants to travel the routes at their own pace, whenever they can (when permitted of course) and then track their progress with a form that can be found on their website.

Those who finish all six routes and hand in their filled-out form at the Shattuck Visitor Center will receive a custom Emerald Necklace Conservancy bamboo utensil set.

Some folks have already started taking the journey, such as Sarah and her dog Alma.

“This is an amazing park system, and we are so fortunate to have it in the city of Boston,” Sarah said. “I don’t think enough residents, let alone visitors, know how wonderful this is as a social and natural asset.”

Mary Ellen and her greyhound Pony agreed with this sentiment.

“You really have to get out and see them all, I think it’s one of the great things that sets Boston apart is that we have so much green space and it’s pretty well connected.”

More information regarding "Journey The Necklace" can be found here.
