MARSHFIELD, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Ming Dynasty in Marshfield has planned a Monday night rave set for next week, and tickets are already sold out.

The event was proposed by Colby Lauria, an internet influencer and event organizer from Marshfield. He has been a frequent guest at The Ming Dynasty, and an idea to do something exciting at the restaurant came to him.

“I was doing a backpacking trip with my friend Gino in Northern Vietnam, and I was overlooking some mountains and I thought, man, The Ming Dynasty should be a rave, I think people would really like that,” Lauria said.

He then proposed this idea to Monica, the owner of the restaurant, who was not keen on the idea at first, to put it lightly.

“She was really frazzled; she called the police on me for just proposing the idea,” he said. “I am most proud of how our relationship has evolved since...I think what happened was that I just started showing face more often. I started just sitting at the bar, getting drinks, getting food, doing work there.”

She eventually came around to the idea, especially with Lauria making safety a top priority with hired security personnel.

With Monica giving the go-ahead, the event garnered attention immediately, and no expenses are being spared in making it a hit.

“Yeah, people seem excited, the 250 or so tickets sold out in nine minutes,” “We’re turning The Ming Dynasty in Marshfield into a proper rave. We’re bringing in thousands of dollars of lights and sounds and glowsticks.”

The rave is set for Monday, June 15.
