FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) – The Patriots now know who they will face in the divisional round opponent on Sunday afternoon. The Houston Texans will be heading to Foxborough for a 3 p.m. kickoff, the winner will head to the AFC Championship game.
The Pats beat the Chargers on Sunday night, the first playoff win for the franchise since 2019. They didn’t know their next matchup though until Monday night when the Houston Texans face the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Texans won 30-6 blowing the game wide open in the fourth quarter.
The Pats now have to prep for the Texans defense, considered one of the best in all of football. They had the second ranked scoring defense, and expected points added. Houston’s pass rush is suffocating for quarterbacks and will be something for Drake Maye’s offensive line to starve off.
It’s the Houston offense though that is often slow to score. They ranked 13th in the league in scoring offense where the Pats rank 2nd in the same category. Houston often relies on its defense to create points. Another question mark for the Texans is their top wide receiver, Nico Collins went out of Monday night’s game with a concussion.
Head Coach Mike Vrabel will host his weekly press conference on Wednesday ahead of the game.
