NORWOOD, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A bagel shop in Norwood is going viral after the owner shared video of an disgruntled customer flinging a bagel across the floor.

Perry Makarious, who owns SPoT! Bagels, has been making bagels since 1993. Sundays tend to get busy so there's a sign out front, asking customers to be patient as staff make orders from scratch. But Makarious said he's never seen anything like this.

In video that Makarious shared on SPoT!'s Facebook page, the man unhappy with waiting on a busy Sunday rush was seen on surveillance video throwing his bagel to the floor while his wife watches on before knocking a napkin and then the food's container to the ground.

"He was staring at the cashier for a few solid minutes, expecting a reaction," said Makarious. "He didn't get the reaction and he proceeded to take a bite of his food and throw the food on the ground, throw the napkins on the ground and then also throw the whole container of food on the ground. It's upsetting, about how someone can actually do that and act in that manner in a public restaurant."

Makarious said he decided to post the video on Facebook not to target the man but to draw a line in the sand of what is and is not acceptable behavior to his employees.

"I have to protect the customers here, I have to protect my establishment, I have to protect employees, this is what my job is," said Makarious.

The video went viral, receiving almost 3,000 comments on Facebook. Former Patriot David Andrew even weighed in, commenting on Instagram surprised that someone would throw a SPoT! bagel on the floor.

The man in the video has been identified by his family and has been banned from SPoT! for the foreseeable future. Makarious said the lesson here is to just try to be kind to each other, no matter how hungry you are or the hurry you're in.

"I don't spend too much time thinking about him, I spend my time thinking about the great customers we have," said Makarious. "We are grateful that we do have a lot of great customers and this is only one incident in a million."
