Cora: Red Sox Must Be More Patient At Plate

BOSTON (WBZ-AM) -- Red Sox are 6-and-6 their last dozen games, partly due to inconsistent offense. Boston's averaging just over three runs during that span, including last night's 6-2 setback in Minnesota. Skipper Alex Cora said his guys have to be more patient at the plate.

"Probably slow it down a little bit," Cora said. "Instead of the strikes to be bigger, I always talk about staying away from the edges of the strike zone. It seems like we've been swinging at pitches in the edge, and we need to stop doing that and look for pitches right in the middle. And if we do that, we'll be fine."

David Price is 6-0 with a 2.64 ERA his last seven starts, and a 2.93 ERA in eight starts at Target Field. He hasn't pitched there since 2015. That'll change tonight at 8:10 p.m.

Twins will counter with Lance Lynn. He's struggled with a career-high 5 ERA, but that mark's down around 2 his last five turns. The righty's only faced the Red Sox three times lifetime, with good success--a 1.89 ERA over 19 innings.
