John J. Murphy has been in the financial services industry for 40 years. He has served in many different roles and is currently he President and CEO of Members Plus Credit Union. He joined MPCU in January of 2015 as Executive Vice President and was appointed President and CEO in 2016.
Before joining Members Plus he worked in banking and credit union industry for several institutions. Most notably, John is a former employee of Everett Credit Union from 2002 to 2008. He served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Everett Credit Union, as well as its Chief Financial Officer.
John has a focus and a commitment to the communities in which he works and lives and during his time at Everett Credit Union he was very active in the City of Everett.
John is a past President of the Everett Rotary Club and had served on the board for the Everett Business Education Co-operative, Everett Literacy Program, and the Everett Chamber Commerce. He is also a past President and Director for the Reading-North Reading Chamber of Commerce.
He is past President of the Woburn Business Association and served as a Director for the Boy’s and Girl’s Club of Woburn and the Woburn Council of Social Concern and a former Board member of the Boy’s and Girls’ Club of Medford-Somerville.
He is currently a Medford Rotarian and served as President of the club in 2018-2019. He also serves on the Supervisory/Audit Committees for the Eastern Corporation Federal Credit Union.
He has served as Town Moderator for North Reading for 18 years and previously served on the Board of Selectmen, Trustees of Trust Funds, and the Elementary School Building Committee.
John received his BS in Business Administration from Suffolk University and has an MBA from Northeastern University’s Executive Program. He is also a graduate of the Massachusetts School for Financial Studies.
