Is It Hot Enough For You?

BOSTON (WBZ-AM) -- Gee it’s hot out, isn’t it?

Let the complaining begin!

Actually, don’t.

I have great sympathy for the elderly, people with respiratory problems, pregnant women, and anyone who has to work outside in this.

Everyone should be careful about dehydration, sunstroke, heat prostration and so on.

But for most of us, complaining about this heat and how hot it’s been all summer is definitely unacceptable.

Because all we did was complain last winter, when we suffered through the usual array of bitter cold, heavy snow, and nasty coastal flooding. And you just can’t have it both ways.

Yes, I suppose it would be nice if we were San Diego and the weather was almost always 70 degrees and sunny.

But how can anyone who gutted out another six month stretch of snow and rain gear, Vitamin D deprivation, and cabin fever seriously moan about what we’re getting now?

Even on a day like today you can enjoy the outdoors in a shady spot with something to drink.

The T may not run on time, but you can walk down the sidewalk without risking a header.

And there’s always nighttime, when you can sit out with family and friends, listen to the cicadas start up, and enjoy the stars.

There’s nothing to be whining about weather-wise.

Even if you can’t stand the heat, it’s just a matter of waiting a few days for it to break. You can’t say the same about any given day in January.

September and October will be great here, they always are.

And then, once the holidays are over and the worst of it sets in, you can go back to complaining again.
