How To Make The Mall Safer

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — It’s that time of year.

Back to school shopping has already begun, the tax-free holiday is coming up weekend after next.

Wouldn’t you like to be able to send your loved ones to the mall – or go yourself – without worrying about being slaughtered by a racist lunatic with an assault weapon?

I know I would, and I bet every American who hasn’t yet been indoctrinated into the cult of Second Amendment extremism feels the same way.

So, what are we going to do about it?

Since a clear pattern has emerged of terrorist violence by white male crackpots urged on by hate-filled demagogues to target the usual scapegoats – Jews, Muslims, non-white people of all kinds – I suggest we start by criminalizing their exhortations.

If it’s illegal for that sad young girl to urge her boyfriend to kill himself, the online trolling for defectives to carry out these insane shootings ought to be as well.

Let’s give law enforcement the tools to do something about this kind of terrorist recruiting as soon as the keywords pop up. And let’s also hold the websites that host it liable.

If this isn’t shouting “fire” in a crowded theater, what is?

Tougher gun laws and enforcement? Absolutely.

No reasonable person who enjoys hunting or shooting or wants self-protection will object.

That would be a start.

But don’t hold your breath.

Save that for the next time you go to the mall.
