BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Several batches of birth control pills made by Apotex Corp. are being recalled due to packaging errors.
The FDA is warning the public that some of the Drospirenone and Ethinyl Estradiol Tablets have the wrong arrangement of pills, and that some contain an empty blister packet.
Pills with the lot numbers 7DY008A, 7DY009A, 7DY010A, and 7DY011A make up the recall.
"As a result of this packaging error, where a patient does not take a tablet due to a missing tablet or that a patient takes a placebo instead of an active tablet, loss of efficacy is possible due to variation in the dosage consumed," the FDA said on their website.
Users are advised to contact their pharmacies with questions. There have been no reports of unintended pregnancies resulting from the packaging errors.
