BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Patriots coach Bill Belichick's 66 — twice as old as Sunday's Rams counterpart Sean McVay. At 33, McVay's the youngest head coach to appear in a Super Bowl. But, the pair shares a high level of respect for one another.
McVay told NBC Sports Belichick texts him all the time — something that started following a September win over the Vikings.
"I was just so appreciative of somebody of his nature, to even take the time to send a text after we had one a game earlier this year," McVay said. "And to get a chance to have the platform, to be able to get a chance to meet people like Coach Belichick that are willing to share and help, you know, that means a lot. And when you look at these guys and what they've done in terms of consistency, where that's really the truest measurement of performance, and nobody's done it better than they have."

Belichick's been coaching for 43 seasons and he's headed to his ninth Super Bowl as a head coach, but he recognizes greatness.
"Coach McVay's done a great job with that football team," Belichick said. "He's been there two years. They've led the league in scoring basically both years, won a ton of games. They're very well-coached. They're fundamentally sound, they're tough. They're here for a reason—they're a very good football team."
