The head of the U.S. Olympic Committee is stepping down. The organization announced Scott Blackmum's resignation as CEO yesterday, citing health issues related to prostate cancer. In the past, Blackmum has been praised for his efforts to improve relations with the International Olympic Committee and for leading a successful bid to return the summer games to Los Angeles in 2028. He has also been the subject of controversy in recent months, following sex abuse scandals involving several American sports organizations, including USA Gymnastics.
The U.S. Olympic Committee named board member Susanne Lyons as interim CEO.
