JAMAICA PLAIN, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — With so many flavors of ice cream picking just one can be difficult between chocolate, vanilla, caramel, cookies n crème, strawberry, and ... pickle?
Boston-based J.P. Licks teamed up with Grillo's Pickles to create a pickle-flavored ice cream in honor of National Pickle Day on Monday.
"Our production manager John came up with an ingenious method of using a hand-held blender to literally chop up the pickles in a tub smaller than a relish cube, it's the perfect size," J.P. Licks Founder Vince Petryk said.
He told WBZ's Kim Tunnicliffe they use the actual pickle juice to flavor the cream.

They won't be putting it out on the shelves right away, as they need to see if the public is interested in pickle ice cream first.
"We are definitely going to do lots of tasting I'm sure... and then we'll see how many people actually end up ordering it," Petryk said.
Tunnicliffe tried the ice cream herself, "it's not overpowering... wow," she exclaimed pleasantly surprised by the dill frozen treat.
