MALDEN, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Malden residents hit the polls on Election Day to cast their vote.

One Malden resident said he plans on voting "blue all the way" at the Ferryway School voting location while another voter said he is switching from blue to red in the 2022 midterm election.

"I haven't heard anything the Republicans have said that they want to do that the democrats aren't doing or if their plan is better... I haven't heard of a plan, give me one plan you have better," Thomas of Malden told WBZ's Shari Small at the polls.

Another man said the economy and high prices for gas and groceries pushed him out to the polls.

"Everything is sky high, my groceries used to cost $120, now I'm paying $210," a Malden voter who wished to remain anonymous said.

He said he switched his vote from Democrat to Republican this election.

"They're not the same Democratic Party anymore, they're not thinking on the fact that there's regular people out here," he said. "It's almost like I'm angry [and] gotta send a message because you need to wake them up."

Bill Galvin, Secretary of State, said he predicted a lower voter turnout than the 2018 midterms. Elizabeth of Malden agreed, saying she wouldn't be surprised if the voter turnout was low this midterm election.
