BOSTON (WBZ-AM) -- Red Sox are 10-and-8 this spring and matching up with the Blue Jays today in an exhibition but, yesterday, it was hard not to get excited for the start of the regular season two weeks from today in Tampa.

Chris Sale will be on the mound for that one and the ace breeze through his second spring outing yesterday when he limited the Twins to two hits over five shutout innings and struck out seven at Hammond Stadium.

"You want to be able to get into some sticky situations, I guess, before the regular season starts," Sale said. "That's what we're here for--we're here to get some work in and try to get better. You don't want to get into start 2 or 3 and be in a bad situation for the first time, so it's good to kind of get the juices flowing and just compete right there."

Red Sox Reliever Carson Smith Finally Feeling Healthy

Smith is excited to rejoin a bullpen that, he says, is the best he has ever played with.

So far, so good for Sale this month. Two starts, nine innings, four hits, one run, 12 K's, no walks.

"I'm feeling good," Sale said. "I can't stress enough how nice it is to have the team we have, and the guys in the corner that we do--strength and conditioning, guys in the training room, coaching staff keeping it light, having fun, a combination of a lot of things, but we're having a good time doing it."

Life under new manager Alex Cora's definitely still in the honeymoon stage.
