Emotional Dion Lewis Feels Wanted

BOSTON (WBZ-AM) -- The Eagles drafted Dion Lewis in 2011 in the fifth round, but the running back amassed just 192 yards from scrimmage over 24 games.

Lewis was then traded to the Browns and cut, signed by the Colts and cut, and he finally landed with the Patriots in 2015. He didn't play a single NFL down in 2013 or 2014.

Lewis provided flashes of brilliance over the next two seasons in New England, but injuries limited him to 14 games.

Lewis entered Pats camp last year as the fourth back on the depth chart, but became the lead-rusher by Week 5 and never relented the role. He surpassed 1,000 total yards and scored nine touchdowns for the first time, and was rewarded with a four-year, $23.4 million deal--by the Titans.

McCourty Twins Reunited With Patriots

Perhaps the only person more pumped than the twins that Devin and Jason McCourty are playing together is their mom.

"I just want to be in a place where I feel comfortable, where I feel wanted--and that's what I feel here," Lewis said.

The emotional Lewis said he's not taking anything for granted.

"Just every time I get on the field, I just try to work as hard as possible, because I know it could all be gone like this," he said. "In 2014, I was at home."

All those people who said Lewis was too small, weak, or slow--he said he's motivated to continue proving them all wrong.
