Alex Cora, how's he looked?
“He’s been great,” Cora said. Hanley was joking with him today that he hasn’t hit a home run, but I think his approach has been perfect. He stays with his craft, he has an idea of what he wants to do on a daily basis. There are certain days that he is just locked in the other way and, some other days, he’s patient; some other days, he’s aggressive.”
“I think it’s just part of the process. He just needs to be ready for Tampa.”
How valuable has Martinez been in the clubhouse?
“There was a lot of conversations about this team last year – the void that David [Ortiz] left,” Cora said. “They need somebody to fill that void. I’m not saying J.D. is that guy, but at least, you know, he’s bringing knowledge, leadership and helping guys with plans. That’s always good.”
“I told you guys, two days ago, the baseball talk is getting louder and louder, which is great, I love it. In the dugout, they’re paying attention to details. In the clubhouse, we talk about situations. You know, they’re talented, it’s just a matter of making them aware of details that you can take advantage of. He does a good job with it.”
