Rick Porcello is in line to start the Red Sox's third game of the regular season, a week from Saturday in Tampa, but the righty has had an up-and-down spring with a 4.91 ERA through three starts, along with 12 strikeouts in his 11 innings.

Porcello pitched a minor league game yesterday, then chatted with NESN.

Rick, how do you feel?

“Real good,” Porcello said. “Sinker, cutter were good. Changeup was really good. Probably the best changeup I’ve had all spring. So, it was good."

So, it’s safe to say you're ready for the season?

“I’m right there,” Pocello said. “I mean, I feel like I’m pretty much ready to go and I think we’re all looking forward to getting started, now.”

How have you felt throughout the spring?

“I feel really good, up to this point,” Porcello said. “I haven’t really had that ‘dead arm’ period that you get, usually around the middle of camp, when your arm starts to kind of drag a little bit, and it takes about another week to catch up. So far, it’s been a really good buildup of work and I’ve felt great all the way through spring training.”

Porcello's worked with longtime Sox pitcher Derek Lowe in camp, in an effort to regain his 2016 Cy Young-winning form. The main focus there has been Porcello rediscovering how to best execute his sinker.
