Bill Belichick Opens Up at NFL Owners Meetings

ORLANDO, FLA.(WBZ-AM) -- Bill Belichick's at the NFL owner’s meetings in Orlando. On Sunday, the Patriots coach touched on a number of pointed topics, albeit gently.

Bill, how would you describe your relationship with Tom Brady, especially after he spoke in his documentary about needing to have conviction to continue playing?

“You know, I’ve had direct conversations with Tom, I mean many times obviously through a long period of time and I rely on those conversations that I will have with him directly rather than something else. Tom and I have always had a good line of communication and we’re always available to talk directly to each other…I don’t see that changing,” he said.

Any genuine concerns about Rob Gronkowski retiring?

Conversations I’ve had with the players…aren’t a lot of them I keep those private between myself and the player. I respect those player conversations. I don’t want to speak for anybody else,” he said.

How about that Malcolm Butler Super Bowl benching, now that he's gone?

“I have a lot of respect for Malcolm. From the day he got here in rookie mini-camp four years ago he’s always competed has hard has he could he was always a great competitor on the field and I totally respect that. You know I’m not going get into last year and I’m not going get into this year or another year. I talked to Malcom and I wish him well in Tennessee,” Belichick said
