BOSTON (WBZ-AM) -- Villanova and Michigan will meet at 9:20 p.m. Monday night in San Antonio for the right to cut down the nets after the men's college basketball title game.
Top-seeded Wildcats took home the national championship in 2016. They've won 10 straight by an average of 17 points. Third-seeded Wolverines have taken 14 in a row by an average of 12 points, but they've lost their last three appearances in the final round since winning it all in 1989.
Villanova head coach Jay Wright knows Michigan junior Mo Wagner will be tough to stop.
"He's got the ability to beat you in any way," Wright said. "I think he's one of those players that, you're not going to shut him down. You just got to hope you can minimize his influence on the game. That's what we're going to try to do."
Wagner's averaging 19 points and eight rebounds his last three games after a 24 and 15 performance, but he respects the competition.
"They can all shoot--they're really, really efficient in multiple positions," Wagner said. "When you play a good team, there's usually something you can give up and can make a defensive game plan, but that's not the case here. But you know what? It's not supposed to be easy. It's the National Championship."
'Nova crushed Kansas 95-79 with a Final-Four-record 18 threes on Saturday.
