BOSTON, MA (WBZ-AM) -- Sweeping criminal justice reform package, in the works for three years on Beacon Hill, has cleared the Massachusetts Legislature and sent to Governor Charlie Baker's desk.
The State Senate unanimously approved the plan Wednesday and the State House followed suit with little opposition.
The measure eliminates some mandatory minimum sentences for "low-level drug offenses."
It also requires district attorneys to create pre-arraignment diversion programs for veterans, and people with mental health or substance abuse disorders.
