BOSTON (WBZ-AM) -- The Bruins blasted the Maple Leafs 5-1 and 7-3 in the first two games of their first-round series at the Garden, thanks in large part to 20 total points from their top line of Patrice Bergeron, Brad Marchand, and David Pastrnak.
In last night's 4-2 loss in Toronto, that line went scoreless on nine shots.
So what happened?
"I thought our top line was fine for the most part, they just didn't finish," Head Coach Bruce Cassidy said. "At the end of the day, yeah, they could be better. They had a tougher matchup tonight. They were determined to keep them off the score sheet, and they did. We're not surprised by that. They're a very good team, they're at home. It didn't go their way in Boston--well documented. They didn't defend well enough, and they put an onus on that."
"Having said that, I thought we generated enough offense to win, that was not the problem," he continued. "We just didn't finish well at the net, and we gave up some goals on transition that we need to correct."
"We had some good chances, we'd like to have more," Patrice Bergeron said. "They were tight on us, and we have to battle through and be better and find ways to create a little bit more. That being said, yeah, we had our looks, we had some pretty good chances that usually we find a way, but, yeah, we could've bared down a little bit more."
Game 4 is on Thursday, up north.
