BOSTON (24/7 NewsSource) -- Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker is taking steps in an attempt to make the commuter rail safer.
The Boston Globe reports Gov. Baker notified the Federal Railroad Administration that commuter rail officials would have real time access to driving records, and receive alerts if an engineer receives a driving violation.
Keolis, the company operating the commuter rail system, says they are increasing oversight and making improvements to the vetting process.
The changes come after a Boston Globe report that more than half of the engineers had multiple speeding tickets, license suspensions and accidents.
