YARMOUTH, MA (WBZ-AM) -- Cape and islands lawmakers are calling for "oversight" hearings on beacon hill to determine how a man with a long, violent rap sheet was free on bail when he allegedly killed Yarmouth Police officer Sean Gannon.
They've got a long list of prosecutors and court officials they want to hear from.
Thomas lantanowich had at least 125 counts on his record when he shot and killed Gannon as the officer attempted to serve a warrant for a probation violation.
Requests have been sent to the public safety and judiciary committees
Tthe lawmakers want to hear from the Cape and Islands District Attorney Michael O'Keefe, Middlesex County District Marion Ryan, The Chief Justice of The Trial Court and The State Parole Board Chairman---among others.
The 8 members of the cape delegation say its clear that Lantanowich had a predilection toward violence both to strangers and those close to him. they want hearings within a few weeks.
