FAIRFIELD, Maine (WBZ-AM) -- The man charged in the killing of Deputy Sheriff Cpl. Eugene Cole is due in court Monday afternoon on a murder charge.

It took a little time and a lot of effort--but over the weekend, police arrested John Williams, 29, who was wanted in Cole's murder.

Police said Williams shot and killed Cole around 1:45 a.m. Wednesday morning on Route 2 in Norridgewock, stole his cruiser, and robbed a Cumberland Farms store.

Williams had a criminal history in Massachusetts, too.
