BOSTON (WBZ-AM) -- David Price opened his season with 14 straight scoreless innings and a 2-and-0 start.

Next time out April 11th at Fenway, the lefty let up four runs in his only inning before leaving with a circulation issue in his pitching hand. Numbness in the fingertips.

Price said he'd experienced it before.

He didn't miss a start, but has struggled mightily since with an 8.22 ERA his last five outings. 24 runs, 21 earned.

Price was supposed to start tonight in the Bronx, but was scratched after enduring that same tingling sensation in a bullpen session Sunday.

First Place On The Line As Red Sox Take On Yankees

Adam Kaufman previews tonight's Sox-Yankees match-up.

Red Sox manager Alex Cora wants to get him right.

"Obviously, his health is most important, and the more we know about this situation, the better it's gonna be for him and obviously for the team," Cora said. "I told him, I said, man, your health is more important than just a start or two starts right now. Let's make sure you know what's going on. Hey, maybe there's nothing, and he'll come back, throw in bullpen, and he'll pitch over the weekend or whenever he pitches, but we have to make sure we know what's going on."

The plan is to do more tests to confirm whether a trip to the disabled list is necessary.

5-and-0 Rick Porcello will start in Price's place tonight opposite Masahiro Tanaka. First pitch at 7 p.m.
