Bruins Star Brad Marchand Admits It's Time To Grow Up

BOSTON (WBZ-AM) -- The Bruins dropped their second-round series with the Lightning in five games.

Brad Marchand didn't have a bad series--he totaled eight points--but that's not what people will remember.

They'll remember him licking Ryan Callahan, after he appeared to do something similar to Leo Komarov in the previous series win over the Maple Leafs.

The NHL got tired of it, and told him to stop.

Marchand took a couple days, but came to the same conclusion. He needs to behave better.

"I think the biggest thing for me now is to really take a pretty hard look in the mirror and realize the actions, some of the things I'm doing have much bigger consequences than I may ever think or believe will ever come out of it," he said. "I've always been a pretty easy-going guy and there's not a whole lot that phases me at all. I think it's kind of gotten to the point where, the last thing I ever want to do is bring the embarrassment on my teammates and the organization that I did. Yeah, I have to be a lot better. I know I've said that in the past, but I think that that's got to be the thing that I really work on the most."

Only Alex Ovechkin and Vladimir Tarasenko have more regular season goals than Marchand's 110 the last three seasons. He's a heck of a player, and doesn't need some of the other antics in his game to dominate.

He claims to know now. He'll turn 30 tomorrow. Time to grow up.
