Child Rape Suspect on MA State Police Most Wanted Captured In Nevada

BOSTON, MA (WBZ-AM )--  A man suspected of child rape who has been on the Massachusetts State Police Most Wanted List was captured Sunday in Reno Nevada.

In a release, Police say that Daniel Escalante, 42, was taken without incident by members of the Reno Nevada Police Dept and the U.S. Marshals’ Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Task Force.

They say that that Escalante  used to live in Marlborough, MA and is suspected of committing sexual assaults against multiple children in and around that town.

He was added to their Most Wanted List in late March.

"In recent weeks, the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section (MSP VFAS), working with the State Police Cyber Crime Unit, the State Police Watch Center, Marlboro Police, and the US Marshals Service, conducted an extensive investigation into Escalante's whereabouts." 

They learned that he had fled the Commonwealth and was living in Nevada under an alias.

Escalante is currently being held by police in Nevada on a fugitive from justice charge. He is expected to appear in  was expected to appear in the Reno Justice Court Monday. 

Prosecutors in Massachusetts will work with Nevada authorities to arrange how he'll answer to the child assault charges.

The charges that he faces in Massachusetts are: five counts of rape of a child with force; two counts of assault with intent to rape a child; and four counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14.
