HAVERHILL, MA (WBZ-AM) – On the cold sidewalk, lit candles, bottles of corona, a sports jacket, signs reading fly high for a 20-year-old man who was shot and killed by a person in passing car early Thursday.

It happened around 5:00 p.m. in the vicinity of Washington and Shepard streets across from the Fantini Bakery where the trucks are loading up for the day.

According to the Essex County District Attorney’s office, the victim,  whom they have yet not identified, was sitting in the front passenger seat of a Dodge pickup truck when the shots rang out by a person in a passing car.

The driver in the truck then drove to Haverhill City Hall on Summer Street where firefighters attempted to render aid.

They say he was pronounced dead after being airlifted to Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston.
