BOSTON, MA (WBZ-AM) -- Governor's Council member Marilyn Devaney says she's outraged that a Salem judge allowed a known heroin dealer to be released on probation.
On WBZ's Nightside last night, Dan Rea took calls from people about Judge Timothy Feeley's decision, which Feely said he made because the man was selling drugs to help his family.
Well, Dan got a call from Devaney.
She tells Dan Rea on WBZ Nightside that she's going to talk to the governor about it Friday.
"It's so outrageous, I just had a friend a month ago, her 32-year-old son OD'ed on heroin," she said. "I mean [the drug dealer]'s making these people addicted and killing them. You know? I mean it's so outrageous, that this man is even a judge."
"I want this judge removed," Devaney said.
It's not easy to remove a judge Massachusetts, but Devaney says that she believes leaders at the State House should take a good look at that possibility.
"I mean how can anyone, any person in their right mind say that this man just needs probation because he's supporting his family getting people addicted selling drugs?" she said. "I mean that's the most outrageous thing I've heard."
Former Salem Police Chief and current State Representative Paul Tucker wrote a letter to the editor published in the Salem News about his anger over Judge Feely's decision, calling it "indefensible" and "incomprehensible."
"I've been that person that's had to tell parents that their child has had a fatal overdose, or a mother, or a son," he said earlier this week on Nightside with Dan Rea. "This really struck a chord with me."
