BOSTON, MA (24/7 News Source) -- Many Massachusetts beaches are in rough shape heading into the Memorial Day weekend.
The unofficial first weekend of summer is usually when beaches open for the season. However, the damaging storms over the winter have left many beaches with dunes and stairs washed away, along with other damage to infrastructure.
The state has claimed widespread beach erosion in its effort to obtain federal aid for the damaging storms seen over the last year.
