J.D. Martinez Right At Home Hitting At Fenway

BOSTON (WBZ-AM) -- When the Red Sox signed J.D. Martinez last winter, many were concerned over whether he could succeed at Fenway. That turned out to be silly.

Through 28 home games, Martinez is batting .352 with 13 homers and 33 RBI. Was he worried at all?

"That was a big question in the offseason, but to me, I said, I don't care, man, I just want to continue to go out there," Martinez said. "It's the same boring question I keep, you know, answering over and over. I'm not going to change my approach. I'm going to go up there and try to drop the ball up the middle, right center, and be me."

Adam Kaufman has a preview of tonight's meeting between the Red Sox and Tigers.

What is it about playing at home?

"Every time you play at home it's just different," he said. "It's a different feel. You have a routine, you have a stadium, you get to sleep in your own bed. It's more relaxed."

Martinez's manager Alex Cora said it's clear his slugger likes it here. Latest evidence: another homer last night.

"He sticks with his plan, that's the most important thing," Cora said. "I keep saying it, I'm gonna repeat myself probably the rest of the season--he's a complete hitter."
