SPRINGFIELD, MA (24/7 News Source) -- People who owe money in criminal cases can now pay online thanks to a new system called ePay.
The system will be implemented in courts across the state this month.
Springfield District Court clerk magistrate John Gay says the system allows for a more convenient way of paying fees without having to go to the courthouse.
Switching to electronic payments also follows a plan which has outlined improved access to justice initiatives.
People can pay probation fees, victim witness fees and almost all other criminal assessments with the system.
Users can pay with PayPal or credit card and will include a small convenience fee.
