BOSTON (WBZ-AM) -- The Red Sox have lost three of four and the Yankees have won four of five, so Boston's now a half-game behind New York for the best record in the majors at 44-and-22.
If the Sox keep doing what they've been doing, making the playoffs is a given. One question, though: Is there a difference between winning the division and just qualifying for the postseason?
Red Sox Struggling With Runners In Scoring Position
The Red Sox are struggling lately--but the good news for them is that the Orioles have been terrible all season.
Here's Alex Cora on that.
"We know what that means, we know the difference between 3 out of 5 and the wild card games," Cora said. "We know we're going to go through stretches like this, we're going to go through stretches like a week ago. It's just a matter of keep grinding, keep doing the things, trying to get better. There are a number of things that we can take away from this that were very positive this week. Wright, Sale, Price, Rick. Pitching-wise, I think we're getting there again. I think the reset button for them, as far as like the rest, it worked out--it's just a matter of, we didn't score runs."
Yeah, just six total runs of offense the last four games. Sox will start a 10-game, 11-day trip in Baltimore tonight at 7:05 with Steven Wright on the mound opposite Dylan Bundy.
