BOSTON (WBZ-AM) -- Red Sox are 49-and-24, good for a virtual tie with the Yankees atop the majors and even with the defending-champion Astros for the most wins in baseball. Pretty good rookie managerial season for Boston's Alex Cora.

Xander Bogaerts spoke with WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Jonny Miller about how Cora's done so far.

"I think he's handled it really well, you know?" Bogaerts said. "Coming in, he's a young manager, I don't know if anyone knew what to expect with him. But he's been really easy to communicate with. He's done a phenomenal job reading lineups each and every day. It feels like, even if we don't win a game, we're pretty much close."

Red Sox Have No Concerns About Their Abilities This Season

At 49-and-24, it's hard to find much to complain or even worry about for the first-place Sox.

Bogaerts said one thing that really helps is that Cora is a player's manager.

"The way he kind of treats us, it makes you feel really at home, makes you feel comfortable," he said. "Any time he'll just give you some hints, give you some tips, give you some quick reminders. He's been really phenomenal."

Boston will open a three-game set in Minnesota tonight at 8:10 p.m. Chris Sale will square off with Jose Berrios. Red Sox are 5-and-2 on their road trip, while the Twins are fresh off a 3-and-3 trip to Detroit and Cleveland.
