BOSTON (AP) — Massachusetts state senators who sit on an oversight panel say they don't plan on looking into the case of three recently suspended or retired Massachusetts State Police troopers arrested and charged with taking thousands of dollars of overtime pay for hours they didn't work.
Masslive.com reports that Democratic Sen. Kathleen O'Connor Ives, chair of the Senate Post Audit and Oversight Committee, said Thursday that her panel has its "plate full."
Ives pointed to its recent reviews of a MBTA proposal to privatize busing and maintenance facilities and the UMass Amherst purchase of Mount Ida.
She said the situation with the State Police is "so huge in terms of its seriousness and potential criminality that it's actually beyond the scope of this committee."
The committee has seven members and subpoena powers.
