BOSTON, MA (WBZ-AM) -- Should Non-U.S citizens be allowed to vote in Boston?
That is the question city councilors were hoping to answer during a public hearing at City Hall Tuesday.
Council President Andrea Campbell wants the council to consider giving some voting rights to green card and visa holders. She believes it’s one way to make the city government more inclusive, at a time when she says immigrants are under attack under the President Donald Trump’s Administration.
But the idea is already getting some opposition, including from councilor Ed Flynn.
several communities across the country, including nine in Maryland have some form of non-citizen voting.
