Boston man arrested in connection to Providence homicide

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Providence police say a Boston man has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting in the Rhode Island city earlier this month.

Police said Friday that 36-year-old Arnold Evans was arrested Thursday and will be sent to Providence to face a murder charge in the death of Tyrone Williams.

The 27-year-old Providence man was in a car with his girlfriend shortly after midnight July 1 when someone fired on them. Williams tried to flee on foot but was chased and shot again. He died at the hospital. The woman wasn't injured.

Police have said they think Williams knew his assailant.

The death was the city's sixth homicide of the year.

It could not immediately be determined if Evans has a lawyer.
