2 Accused Of Interfering With Cops Prior To Cape Shooting

FALMOUTH, Mass. (AP) — Two people accused of interfering with police just prior to a shooting that injured two Falmouth officers appeared in court.

Thirty-eight-year-old Kimberly Koval, and 18-year-old Marcus Maseda were charged with interfering with duties of an officer at a Falmouth arraignment on Monday.

The officers, Ryan Moore and Donald DeMiranda, are recovering after the incident on Friday. DeMiranda suffered a shoulder wound.

Moore was grazed in the neck area by a bullet.

Cape and Islands District Attorney Michael O'Keefe says police returned fire, hitting the suspected shooter, 21-year-old Malik Koval, several times. Koval is being treated at a Boston hospital, where he could be arraigned later this week.

Family members Maseda and Kimberly Koval allegedly tried to block officers as he left the house. Their attorney disputed police accounts saying they in no way interfered with police.
