Absentee Ballots Now Available For Massachusetts Primary

BOSTON (AP) — Absentee ballots are now available for the Massachusetts primary election.

Democratic state Secretary William Galvin said the ballots are available in every city and town. Voters can also ask for a ballot to be mailed to them.

He said college students who live in the state and will be heading back to school can obtain their ballots and cast them before they leave.

The primary is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 4 this year — just one day after the Labor Day holiday.

Galvin said voters should check with their city or town clerk about the best time to come into the office to vote by absentee ballot.

There's no early voting allowed in the primary election.

In 2016, more than 1 million Massachusetts residents cast ballots before Election Day.
