State Police Officer Quits during Dishonorable Dis-charge

BOSTON,MA (WBZ AM)--Massachusetts State Police K-9 officer Leigha Genduso quit after an internal affairs investigation found she lied about past involvements with drug dealing and her own narcotics use. Genduso tried to resign before the termination proceedings ended.

According to the Internal Affairs findings , Genduso made false statements regarding past ties to criminal activities on her state police application. She never mentioned her role in a marijuana-trafficking operation, including processing and selling pot. She was granted immunity to testify in the 2007 case.

Recruiters had recently created a new checklist for the background check process, including questions about involvement in any criminal investigation, even if the candidate was not charged with a crime.

The now former trooper  was hired in 2008 as a state police dispatcher and became a trooper in 2014. She had been on unpaid leave while under investigation.
