Plane Crashes In Hanson Days After Fatal Crash

HANSON, MA (WBZ-AM) -- An airplane has gone off the runway at Cranland Airport in Hanson.

Officials say that the pilot, a 20-year-old man, was the only one aboard the Cessna 182 Skylane aircraft used for skydiving, Initial investigation indicates that the pilot overshot the runway while landing shortly before 1p.m on Monday.

The plane went off the end of the runway and hit a dirt road and flipped onto its roof. The pilot was was taken to South Shore Hospital with minor injuries.

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating.

The crash comes days after a crash killed one and seriously injured another. On Friday Scott Landis and his brother Peter were flying to scatter their late father's ashes.  Family say that Peter is now paralyzed.

The Taunton Pilots Association and American Aero Services -- which operate out of Crandland -- held a memorial breakfast on Sunday in memory of  Scott Landis.
